Based on the numbers we posted on October 1st, it's no surprise to see the strong results for the Greater Edmonton Area in released by the Edmonton REALTORS Association. Sales in the region were up nearly 20% over last September; there were 1466 residential sales, compared to 1229 last year and 1652 last month.
“Average sales prices are the highest they have been in five years,” said President Darrell Cook. “Combined with the highest sales numbers since 2009 we have year-to-date residential sales values totaling $4.8 million. Strong market fundamentals, increasing population and the persistence of low mortgage rates have convinced many buyers that an investment in real estate is secure.”
The overall residential sale price is up 5.4% over last year and currently sits at $352,057 (about the same as last month). The median sale price rose in September to $336,000 from $330k last month and $319k last year.
