Good point Sarah. I find it amusing that so many people don’t know what to do with their time with no hockey. I don’t watch it, never have and don’t give a damn if they ever play again.
All hockey fans should do themselves a favor and read a book our learn something for a change.
Nothing against sports in general but a season of watching large men chase a frozen piece if rubber around really is a travesty of time wasted.
It might be something to kill time but it in no way makes you a better person.
Let the daggers fly! Not many like me in Edmonton but I am blessed with a few like minded friends!

I’m not much of a hockey fan but I’ll bite. Reading books doesn’t make someone a better person either. Hockey provides stories along with strategy and excitement just like a book. Television often gets looked down from book readers but I think there’s good television just like good books. Also television is more easily shared with a group.

Hockey gives people a commonality which can be used to get to know people and ease into conversations. It’s something that can be done alone but is far more fun with a group of people.

When you look back on life will you wish you had read more books or spent more time with friends?

But commenting on an internet blog is a much better use of time…

Yea Karl, sharing ideas through technology is another way of learning as far as I am concerned.
The reading a book comment was a jab I admit. Sure, share time with friends, learn something be it through the net, a book, or trying something new…maybe pay some attention to your wife before she starts to hate you. Discuss and debate ideas on the economy on a blog, volunteer, exercise, or take something from Sarahs list…whatever it may be.
I am more speaking of people who are LOST without the NHL of course, not the enjoyer of the occasional game. You know the types…with their basement man caves painted the colors of their team? Is that you Karl?
    Just kidding around is all.
