Weekly Update on the Edmonton Real Estate Market

Weeklyupdate_2

Here is our update on the Edmonton real estate market. (Previous week's numbers are in brackets). For the past 7 days:

New listings: 107 (200, 255, 286)
# Sales: 65 (107, 119, 125)
Ratio: 61% (54%, 47%, 44%)
# Price changes: 75 (159, 234, 297)
# Expired Listings: 184 (258, 191, 503)
# Canceled/withdrawn/terminated listings: 17 (31, 35, 46)
Net loss/gain in listings this week: -159 (-196, -90, -388)
Active listings for single family homes: 2722 (2804, 2991, 3200)
Active listings for condos: 1878 (1934, 1975, 1986)

As expected, a very quiet week for real estate activity in the Edmonton area (this is typically the slowest week of the year). Starting tomorrow, lots of out of towners will be out looking in the Edmonton area (combining their vacation time with a little house hunting). The week after next "new listings" should start their annual rise, I expect at a higher than average rate. Knowing that it takes longer to sell a home now, many sellers will try to get their home on the market early this year.

Some are in town visiting family, some are using their vacation time to look for a home here so they don’t have to take time off work to look.

I like the new set up for the comment section… looks much more professional.
