I don’t usually post emails I recieve. In fact I never have especially the very graphic ones I receive from a few die hards, if you know what I mean
. This one though was too funny though given the current state of things. So with out further adieu, from the Edmonton real estate blog humour files, the Edmonton Oilers are now Stanley cup champions for 2008
…
It has just been announced that the Edmonton Oilers are named the new 2008 Stanley Cup champions.
They have entered into a coalition with the Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks.
Together they have decided that they had more wins last season than the Detroit Red Wings and have declared themselves the champs.
Although they did not make the playoffs, they feel there is no need to have another playoff run as it is better for the league to just name Edmonton the champs.
Shawn Horcoff has declared himself as the Hart Trophy winner saving the league time on having to go through with lengthy voting process.
Detroit will have until Monday December 8, 2008 to remove its Stanley Cup banner from Joe Louis arena.
Thank you and have a good weekend … Kevin

The other side of the coin:
Red Wings Demand End to NHL Season
Detroit Red Wings’ owner Mike Illitch has announced that he is asking NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to suspend all further play in the current NHL hockey season.
“The Detroit Red Wings already have the Stanley Cup,” said Illitch, “and we see no reason to continue to play hockey with the other 29 teams in the league just so that they can keep trying to take it away from us.”
“We don’t care about the impact this may have on the revenues of other teams,” said the multi-billionaire, “nor upon the livelihoods of the players, the concerns of the fans, or the future of hockey.”
“We have the Cup, we’re going to keep it, and that’s that,” he stated.
The Red Wings have been having trouble this season with the teams in their own division, having suffered 3 of their 4 regulation losses against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens.
“Those teams, especially, seem to be ganging up on us,” Illitch said, “and we don’t like that either.”
“They need to respect us and keep their fighting amongst themselves,” he added.
“That’s the Red Wing way,” he continued, “and we’re going to wait it out until they and all the other teams see that salary caps, gate equalization payments, and league parity have absolutely no place in the game.”
“In fact, we don’t even think there should be any more playoffs, and that the team winning the President’s Trophy should be awarded the Stanley Cup automatically.”
The Red Wings have won the President’s Trophy 6 times since it was first awarded in 1986, but have won the Stanley Cup only twice in the last ten years.
“First-past-the-post,” concluded Illitch, “and that should be it.”
Mark,
Good one. Touché!
Hey Mark, nice try. Unfortunatly there is no comparison as the Conservatives are not saying we should never have another election. Those three clown stooges just can’t deal with the fact that they lost the election fair and square. The Red wings would have to be stripped of their win to make the comparison. If the three stooges want to run the show then win an election or win the cup as the case may be.
Love Kevin. He’s awesome. Got this email, then came here and was “Hey, Kev just sent that to me.” Then I saw you got yours from Kev too. Hilarious. Small world.
Car 27 educate yourself.
62% (over half)did not vote for The conservatives. The conservatives gained 38%.
Of the seats in Parliament 143 went to the conservatives again less than half.
We don’t elect leaders in this country….thats the USA. The government is formed from our ELECTED representatives in Parliament.
If you don’t like it get your money back from your political science teacher, because this is how a parliamentry democracy works. We live in a parliamentry democracy.
More than half of our elected representatives do not feel that this government should be governing the country.
BTW the BQ has propped up the harper government over twenty times.

sorry for the double posting
Amen, Richard. The opposition has every right to defeat a sitting minority government. Their motives for doing so are conjecture. As far as I know, in a parliamentary system, royalty/the royal representative can and should ask another party or group of parties to try to form a functioning government, if possible, so soon after an election. Again, Pol Sci. 101.
Sorry folks. We all seem to know intuitively that politicians are lying thieving criminals. However, some lies are just too much to take. I don’t think anybody would really have much of a problem (well after our country was ruined we would but that’s not the point) with them forming a coalition government. The problem here is, they ran on the implied principle’s of their parties and people voted for “That party”. Nobody voted for the Liberal, BQ, NDP COALITION. They voted for either the Liberals, the BQ or the NDP. Throwing out the 38% to 62% figure is meaningless for two reasons.
#1 Although 38% of pop vote WAS for conservatives, 62% was NOT for the BQ, Liberal, NDP coalition. In fact 0% was for that coalition. Not a single solitary vote was cast for that coalition.
#2 Only 54% were INDIVIDUALLY for the BQ(10%), Liberal(26%) and NDP(17%). Greens exist too,
I’d also like to point out that when those morons were questioned if they would run as a coalition next election they simply state NO. Yet they still claim the right to try to form another coalition.
What this means is. Not only do you have to listen to all their campaign lies and try and decide which lies are which. You now have to try and sort out which lies from which party go where. You can’t even vote for a platform and then complain about them not doing it afterwards because they will just form a supposed coalition and backroom deal which values they adhere too. So, basically, they are introducing another level of detatchment from decision making. This is not good for anyone but the slimey, crooked, backward monarchs…I mean politicians.
That’s awesome, I wonder how long the coalition jokes will go on for. Probably as long as the coalition itself, so my guess would be tuesday.
