What I meant to say was "don’t get burned!" Today there arenumerous "faux" fireplaces that are very good at deceiving you as to whether theyare attached (see: Buyer’s Guide – Chattels). These fireplaces lookfantastic and can be placed in a corner or along a wall as if they were builtthere. However since they are not securely attached they are not requiredto stay and would most likely be considered a chattel like a stove orfridge. Two steps to avoid getting burned by a missingfireplace is:
1. Determineif it is attached or not.
2. Askfor it in writing if you want it.
The same goes for any other "part" of the house you may want included in the purchase contract.

Really good point Sheldon. We’ve seen more and more of these (both electric and hologram-electric) in our market as well and they are easy to miss as chattels. My son worked at Canadian Tire last year and these things flew off the shelves by the dozens so there are many out there.
i think it would be fitting for renters to buy one. question of getting a taste of the life of an owner.
