Home seller’s guide to perfect holiday showings

Home seller’s guide to perfect holiday showings

I found this article on Inman News today and thought the author had some really good points. Many people ask us about the pros and cons of listing your home for sale at this time of year. In Edmonton, on average, home prices tend to drop slightly in the month of December, only to rebound [...]

New Mortgage Legislation Lowers Minimum Downpayment

The following article from the Edmonton Sun is great news, looks like the minimum downpayment for a conventional (un-insured mortgage) will be lessened to 20% from 25%. Considering how much money CMHC took in last year alone, this is long overdue. When this will happen is yet to be determined.
Proposed cut in mortgage insurance will [...]

Albertans Spend Spend Spend

Albertans Spend Spend Spend

So, according the RBC, Albertan consumers are going to spend even more next year. What’s interesting about this article is that they state that inflation in Alberta is 4%, when this report that came out from stats Can earlier this week said it is at 3.2%. I can only assume they are using old numbers, [...]

Empty Edmonton Schoolyards to Become Affordable Housing

Interesting idea, taking about 30 parcels of land across Edmonton, that was slated for schools that never needed to be built, and putting affordable housing on it. The city and the school boards will get a nice inflow of cash, restrictions on the cost of housing are in place, and the buyers won’t have to [...]

They’ve defined what a typical home is for each city, and compared how the prices for that "typical" home have changed over the [...]

Real Estate Survey: What Consumers Want

Every year, NAR (the National Association of Realtors) conducts a survey, asking people who bought or sold a home in the previous 12 months a variety of questions. The questions are geared to find out what is important to consumers, how satisfied they were with their experience, how they found their home and more. I’ve [...]
